LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Resurrection Fighting Alliance (RFA) president Ed Soares announced today that the promotion will be bringing a top-tier flyweight world title fight to New Mexico in September. RFA 18 - Manzanares vs. Sanchez will feature a main event between two dynamic flyweights as RFA flyweight champion Matt Manzanares defends his title for the first time against undefeated top-contender Joby Sanchez. In the co-main event, popular UFC vet Ulysses Gomez returns to action against Abel Cullum, who is also an accomplished bantamweight looking to make a successful comeback. The event takes place Friday, September 12th at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Resurrection Fighting Alliance (RFA) president Ed Soares announced today that the promotion will be bringing two title fights to the first legally sanctioned MMA event in the state of South Dakota. RFA 17 - Cochrane vs. Giagos will feature a main event between two exciting lightweights as RFA fan favorite Dakota Cochrane faces fast-rising prospect Christos Giagos for the inaugural RFA lightweight world title. In the co-main event, Mark "Tricky" Dickman faces fellow Missouri native and highly-touted prospect Justin "The American Kidd" Lawrence for the vacant RFA featherweight world title. The event takes place Friday, August 22nd at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Interview with RFA fighter Jan "The Janimal" Jorgensen - Friday, July 18, 2014
In six weeks, the Brigham Young University (BYU) football team returns to action. This is the prestigious NCAA Division I football program located in Provo, Utah that has produced 1,060 All-American athletes. One of those athletes is Jan "Janimal" Jorgensen, who was a star defensive end for the BYU Cougars football team from 2006-2009. In that time, Jorgensen compiled the all-time consecutive starts record at 52 (13 per year) for BYU. He also became the Mountain West Conference's career sacks (28.5) and career tackles for loss (44) leader.

In one week, "Janimal" returns to the national spotlight. However, this time #84 won't be representing "The Y" on the gridiron looking to terrorize opposing quarterbacks. Instead, he will be representing The Pit Elevated inside the RFA octagon looking to add another knockout or submission win to his impressive MMA ledger. read more ...

The main event features top undefeated heavyweight prospects Josh "Cuddly Bear" Copeland and Jan "The Janimal" Jorgensen battling for the inaugural RFA heavyweight world title. The co-main event, will now see Colorado's own Jarred "Shutout" Mercado face Washington state native Daniel "Agent Orange" Swain in a 140-pound catchweight bout. The first two sports people think of when discussing athletic prowess from the Bluegrass State are Basketball and Thoroughbred Horse Racing. The state of Kentucky has a long tradition of winning national championships in collegiate basketball. In fact the past three March's have seen a team from Kentucky make their way through their brackets into the national title game. Likewise, the country's attention is focused on the state every first Saturday in May to watch the "Greatest Two Minutes in Sports" with the Kentucky Derby. However, RFA flyweight Tyler Voth was never been into practicing pick-and-rolls or learning how to ride horses fast, but he is looking to make April another month to remember back home in another sport.
